Easter in Calafell

Easter (Semana Santa) is the year's first getaway by the sea, and in Calafell the days divide easily between the promenade, the beach and the village inland. In 2027, Good Friday (26 March) and Easter Monday (29 March) are public holidays in Catalonia, according to the official calendar of the Government of Catalonia.

For those days, there's the old town of Calafell Poble, with the castle and the Ciutadella Ibèrica. Easter events and family activities in Calafell are published each year by the town council and Calafell Tourism: check what's on for your dates before you firm up your plans.

Calafell Festival Weekend (formerly Calafell Family Weekend)

The Calafell Festival Weekend is Calafell's spring festival: a weekend in early May with the Parc de la Sínia as its main stage, according to Visita Calafell.

It started in 2025 as the next step for the former Calafell Family Weekend. As the council describes it, the festival keeps its family atmosphere and opens up the line-up to teenagers and young people, with concerts, tribute shows, DJ sets and workshops for younger children.

The date of the 2027 edition is still to be confirmed. The line-up, times and entry conditions appear on the festival's official page on Visita Calafell (opens in a new tab) when each edition is announced.

Calafell's Festa Major: the beach, the old village and Segur

Calafell doesn't have just one fiesta: each of its centres holds its own Festa Major, its main annual festival, and between them they fill the summer, from late June to late September, according to Visita Calafell. Expect correfocs (fire runs), street parades, concerts, dances, castells (human towers), sardanas, pyromusical shows, children's activities and a funfair. What happens, where and at what time is set out in each year's programme.

Calafell Medieval Market

Every year at the end of August, the Medieval Market fills the old town of Calafell Poble with craft stalls, activities and live music. It is held at the foot of the Castell de la Santa Creu, in the same streets where markets took place in the Middle Ages, and the town council describes it as one of the oldest medieval markets in Catalonia. It is also known as the Calafell medieval fair.

The date of the 2027 edition is still to be confirmed; the programme is published by the town council and Calafell Tourism. For more on the old town and Calafell Castle, see our guide to the town.
